The popular Hayling Island Sailing Club Perisher Pursuit and Youth Pursuit Race is fast approaching on Saturday 15th February 2014. Registration will be from 9.00am with the first start at 11.00am.
The Notice of Race is now available on the HISC website together with the Sailing Instructions. Over 70 entries are expected at this popular event which is open to all dinghy classes and normally attracts good numbers of RS200s, Solos, 29ers, 420s, Flying 15s and Merlin Rockets amongst other classes. The full length pursuit race is held within Chichester Harbour and for the first time this year will feature a Youth Pursuit Race alongside. The RS Tera's will be the first to start at 11.00am followed by the other classes with the Moth's bringing up the rear at 12.41. Free tea and prize giving will be available at the club from around 3.00pm.
All the proceeds from the entry fees will this year be going to the Hayling Island Sail Training Trust which was set up in 1996 to promote the training and development of young or disabled people through sailing. HISTT has agreed to award two bursaries of £500 each to young sailors in 2014.
The HISC Perisher Pursuit Race takes its name from the Pompey Perisher event which was started by Portsmouth Sailing Club in 1970 to commemorate the club's 50th Anniversary and ran until 2002; HISC ran their first Perisher event in 2013.
