Soto 40 Regata de Chiloé 2014 - Day 3

by Soto 40 media team 28 Jan 2014 05:02 GMT 24 January - 1 February 2013

Another victory for Pisco Sour

The fourth race of the Championship took place today, a course in which the fleet moved from Quenchi to Achao and Bernardo Matte's Pisco Sour added its second victory. With four races, the leader overall is Mitsubishi. Pisco Sour and Patagonia are occupying second and third positions respectively, with 15 points each.

The start of today's race was postponed due to the wind instability in Quemchi, reason why the Race Committeee moved to the Ancud bay and the course had to be reduced to 25 nm. The boats finally started sailing at 1:18 pm with a NE wind of 5 knots that then increased a little and moved to the N. Pisco Sour was the first to cross the finish line at 4:09 pm, followed by Horacio Pavez's Mitsubishi and Jorge Araneda's Santander.

After the course, there was a windward – leeward race scheduled for the class, but due to lack of wind in the Achao bay, the Race Committee couldn't set the course and start the 5th race of the championship.

The Roca Olsen – Canal Lemuy race will start tomorrow at 11:30, followed by a windward – leeward course. After that, the boats will arrive to Castro, where the crews that participate in the 2014 VTR Chiloé race will enjoy a party at night.
