Hyde wins Squib nationals
Mike Budd, in his Hyde sails powered 'Harry III' and sailing with his son, James, has won the 2013 Squib nationals in Abersoch. The week began on Sunday with strong wind and choppy waters, in these conditions the top three finishers used Hyde Sails, with competitors commenting that Hyde's sails allowed the Squibs to point higher in strong winds. Mike and James Budd scored two firsts in the highly competitive eight-race series, which saw six different winners. Mike Budd commented: 'We had plenty of pace in the breeze as did Groggy
and Besty all on Hydes. We had pace in the light too but didn't sail or start as well in the lighter races but we were lucky with the way the results panned out.'

Hyde at the Monsoon Regatta
For the second year running, Hyde Sails has supplied a range of sails to the Monsoon Regatta in Hyderabad, India. Branded asymmetric dinghy sails and Optimist sails by Hyde will be competing in this annual regatta, which celebrates the advent of the monsoons in July.
As the monsoon season hits, the gentle ripples on the Hussain Sagar Lake at Hyderabad in India make way for larger waves and forceful winds, transforming the waters into a paradise for sailing. The Monsoon Regatta celebrates the season with a purpose. The theme of the championship is to protect the environment and steadily improve the quality of the lake. Airlie Beach success
Hyde's sails were in evidence at the recent Airlie Beach Race Week, Incorporating the Australian 2013 Formula 40 Nationals. Competing using a new set of Hyde's sails was the
Formula 40 multihull "Spirit". Designed by Merfyn Owens in the 1980s (originally called "Spirit of England"). The old boat with her new set of Hyde Sails really surprised many in the particularly light conditions coming in the top places in most races. After six days of racing, "Spirit" came home in second place in OMR Division 1. Meanwhile, James Irvine and crew of the Hyde Sails-powered Mayfair. Mayfair finished second in Division 2.
Solo win in Canada
Hyde's Canadian distributor, Ken Forsyth, recently sailed his Viking 28, "K-Force" in the coveted Georgian Bay Cup Race (which awards a trophy dating back to circa 1888 for the winner). Ken Forsyth explains: "Once again this year I decided to enter the 45-mile race solo. Due to light conditions the race was shortened to about 32 miles." Ken didn't just beat the other solo entrants, he won overall - nice one Ken! Read more of Ken's story here.
Successful Ramsgate Week for Hyde Sails Kent
The 2013 Ramsgate Week providing plenty of competitive and enjoyable racing. Members of the Hyde Sails Kent team were competing on two different boats at Ramsgate Week; Frank Martin's Dynamic 37 "Surprise" and Pete Pearson / Mike Lilwall's Elan 333 "Bucaneer". Both boats used their Hyde sails to good effect. As well as supplying new sails and racing the week the Hyde Sails team also spent many hours late into the night repairing the fleets sails to get them back on the water for the next day's racing. Notably, a huge asymmetric for "Oystercatcher" that took over 25 man hours to put back together with an 0200hrs finish in order to ensure it was ready by 0800 the next morning!
