The 2013 British Moth Nationals this year are being hosted by the friendly Staunton Harold Sailing Club situated near to Derby.
As the competitors woke up early (at least those who arrived the day before) were greeted by sunshine and no wind.
As the day progressed the wind filled in. After the lunchtime briefing 24 competitors set sail. The first race being the Practice race set the standard for the rest of the
day as the light winds made the fleet think.
After some close racing and a few disqualifications (not finishing correctly) Colin Hall
finished first Tim Davison 2nd and local boy Nigel Pepperdine 3rd.
The second race (the first of the competition) took place in similar light conditions. Toby Cooper (754) completed the first lap in 1st position closely followed by Robbie Claridge (888).
These positions remained the same, however the rest of the fleet constantly changed positions.
Results after Day 1: (top three, 1 race)
1st Toby Cooper, 754 (Broxbourne SC)
2nd Robbie Claridge, 888 (Royal Lymington SC)
3rd Roger Witts, 885 (Frampton on Severn SC)
