Nick 'oink oink' Craig takes home the bacon
After three days of close racing all was still to play for. While Nick Craig had delivered a very commanding performance, with the double points non discard able last race still to come, all was still to play for.
After a week of perfect Ora conditions things went a bit bonkers during the penultimate race with the fleet being turning inside out at several points. Petr Fiala CZE managed to sneak the race win off Craig to keep things exciting.
After a bonkers first race the Ora had saved its best till last. The Final race was held in a beautiful force 4 to 5 with the course tight under the cliffs. Craig took the lead by the first mark and extended away from the fleet completing his dominance. Meanwhile the fleet battled closely amongst itself and with the kitesurfers enjoying the breeze close to the cliffs.
Overall Nick Craig Dominated the fleet with a near perfect scoreline. It was great to see the top three being taken by three different nations, demonstrating the truly European nature of the event. Dave Gorringe took the 2013 Masters European Championship by four points from Eberhard Bierberitz, GER. The prize giving was a true culinary education for the British sailors, with some amazing prizes being awarded – see the photos!
