Crewsaver RS Elite Stadium Cup returns at AAM Cowes Week in 2013

Crewsaver will once again be title sponsors of the RS Elite Stadium Cup taking place during Cowes Week in August. This event was first staged last year at Cowes and the Nonsuch Bay Resort sponsored follow-up at Antigua Sailing Week was widely seen as a highlight of that regatta in April this year.

The Stadium Cup racing at Cowes will take place on Saturday 3rd August between 5 and 6pm just off the Green, with live commentary on Cowes Radio and through the on-shore PA system.

Competing teams will be selected from the Cowes Week RS Elite fleet, and they will race around a short windward / leeward course with two knock-out heats and then a final. Races last only around 15 minutes so there is no scope for error at the start or around the track. In perfect conditions last year the sailors were often so close to the shore they could hear the commentary through the shore speakers pointing out their mistakes and taking no prisoners! RS Elites are, however, well suited to this close quarters style of racing with great manoeuvrability and the ability to carry pace through well executed tacks and gybes, so there is no excuse.

For the winners it will be worth when they walk away with the Stadium Cup trophy and a set of fantastic Crewsaver Ergofit lifejackets, a new design launched earlier in 2013. The light weight and tailored fit of these lifejackets makes them perfect for all types of keelboat racing and, of course, for cruising as well.

More information about the Crewsaver RS Elite Stadium Cup will be posted on the RS Elite Class website during July, see www.RSElite.org
