It's no surprise that Wildwind's MD, Simon Morgan, himself an avid reader of Yachts & Yachting for nearly 50 years since his early sailing days racing Cadets at Thorpe Bay, has teamed up with YachtsandYachting.com to re-launch the improved Wildwind Speed Freaks to celebrate 25 years of Wildwind's operations in Greece and encourage more grass roots sailors to compete on an even keel with the experts.

As anyone who has visited Wildwind's remarkable sailing centre in Vassiliki on the beautiful Greek island of Lefkas will know, conditions could hardly be better for breath-taking fast sailing – with regular cross-shore winds most afternoons from Force 4-6, flat water and an amazing selection of high performance boats to choose from, Wildwind clients often find themselves sailing faster than they've ever done before – and even complete beginners can join the instructors on 'joy rides' at speeds approaching 20 knots on a regular basis.

The Wildwind Speed Freaks Challenge is open to any sailor who is a member of a recognised sailing club in the UK. Three prizes of a free Wildwind Holiday are up for grabs for the winners in 3 categories; fastest overall speed recorded with a GPS track over 30 seconds, fastest dinghy corrected for Portsmouth Yardstick and fastest multihull corrected under SCHRS. What's more the sailing clubs that the winners' belong to will each also receive £250 to spend in any way they want.

Speeds measured at Wildwind's sailing centre in Vassiliki will also be recorded and shown.
