ICOM UK become official OnBoard supplier

by Susie NationGrainger, RYA 28 Mar 2013 10:45 GMT 28 March 2013

We are delighted to announce that radio communications specialists Icom have become an official supplier for the RYA OnBoard programme.

OnBoard (OB) is a grassroots programme which introduces sailing and windsurfing to young people aged 8 to 18, through schools, youth groups and training centres across the UK.

Icom will be offering all OB clubs discounts and advice on their radio equipment and are also supplying radios to clubs running OB festivals.

Sam Taylor-Nobbs, Icom's Sales Director said: "Icom is extremely pleased to be involved with the fantastic OnBoard initiative. We have always had close links with organisations that have a strong emphasis on grassroots sport, personal development and safety, so OnBoard was an obvious choice for us.

"We hope that through our involvement that we can provide the right advice to OnBoard clubs with their communication requirements, and help ensure that more and more youngsters enjoy their early experiences of sailing safely."

Cat Ferguson, RYA OnBoard Operation Officer said: "The RYA is very grateful for the support from Icom. OB wouldn't be where it is today without the commitment we receive from suppliers and our OnBoard clubs will certainly appreciate Icom's involvement".
