The 17th of March saw the end of Southport Sailing Club Open Winter Series. The series started in November with morning and afternoon races in both a slow and fast handicap. With a few races missed due to the lake drainage and a quick dredge, the coldest weather was probably saved for the last day. Thanks should go to the ladies in the galley for their exceptional food all winter and Tony Halliwell providing the cakes for the last day.
In the fast handicap Matt Harris won both the morning and afternoon series in his Supernova with some very consistent results.
In the slow handicap, which was dominated by the growing Streaker fleet, there was only Ben and Gabe Hill in their Allen fittings supported Mirror that could get close to splitting them, with them winning the morning series and Tony Halliwell winning the afternoon.
Thank you goes to all those who attended or helped both in the galley and ODs.
