122 sailors from across the North East descended on Newcastle for a dinner to launch the new sailing season, while raising £538 (correct on 27/02/2012) for Sail4Cancer on 25th Feburary 2012.

The Trident ladies organised a great night, full of entertainment and games. There was a "Build a Boat Competition", "Win It In A Minute" Table Challenges, and dancing to the Purple Supper Band.

The theme of the evening was lifejackets, guests were encouraged to arrive with the quirkiest, smartest, oldest, buoyancy / lifejacket that they could, with a winner being chosen on the night.

The Guest List

On the night 122 sailors from Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club, Royal Northumberland Yacht Club, Sunderland Yacht Club and Tynemouth Sailing Club including John Robertson the North Easts local Paralympic Sailor and Graham Vials the 2011 Flying Fifteen World Champion.

Lifejackets/Buoyancy Aids

There were plenty of interesting items to see, with some real retro examples, some guests turn up with rubber duck to keep them afloat and one lady arrived with arm bands. Jonathan Wallis of RNYC won the competition, donning an old life ring (Pictured right Jonathan and Pippa Wallis). LifeJackets
