Due to the current inclement weather and the forecast the Winter Championships at Datchet have been rearranged to the 25th-26th February.

Contender Open at Oxford Sailing Club

Light winds – no racing Saturday. Sunday looked like it might be similar but a light breeze filled in which gradually increased through the day.

The class, originally designed 42 years ago and still going strong by keeping up with changes technology having moved to carbon masts and booms over the years and now also building in epoxy will have 2 boats on the stand

Contender Open at Weston Sailing Club

19 Contenders competed in the Weston Open with blue skies and an idyllic westerly force 4 on Saturday. Co-sharing with the RS600 fleet the Race Officer opted for a trapezoid course.

Contender Travellers Series at Porthpean Sailing Club

Porthpean in Cornwall was the venue for the National Contender Travellers series. Race one got underway in a patchy 15 knot SW breeze, most of the fleet opted to head out to sea where the breeze was more settled.

Contender Worlds at the WPNSA - Overall

Despite going afloat on the last day the wind wouldn’t play it’s part and racing was eventually abandoned. This left Bjarke Johnsen as the new and deserving World Champion on count back from Graham Scott.

Contender Worlds at the WPNSA - Days 3 & 4

For day 4 the forecast was for light winds so the race officer got the fleet out early to take advantage of the gradient breeze. The first gold fleet race was won by Soren Andreasen followed by Bjarke Johnsen and Andrea Bonezzi.
