Frensham Frenzy set for 11th March

Frensham Pond Sailing club's annual pre-season Frenzy is set for Sunday March 11th. Sponsored by Guildford Marine, this popular pre-season warm-up event is open to recognised dinghy classes sixteen feet and under.

The day was warm the sun shone and the sky was cloudless but where was the wind? A sailing event with no wind is like a motor race with no fuel. For long periods the lake’s surface was like a sheet of glass.

RS100 at the Frensham Pond Sailing Club 10 hour Charity Race

In aid of Toe in the Water, RS loaned Frensham a demo RS100 (8.4) for the day, giving a dozen lucky sailors a chance to try their hand in this amazing machine, in exchange for a donation.

Ten Hour Charity Race at Frensham Pond Sailing Club

Frensham sailing club’s annual fun event took place in every weather: from sunny skies and warm breeze to rain and flat calm. Added to this the extra hazard of weed clumps bringing boats to a slow stop added to the fun.

Frensham Pond’s 2nd Annual Stig Challenge was held on June 4th - a lovely breezy day – with twenty club sailors trying to set the fastest single lap of the Pond in a reasonably-priced Laser 4.7.

The Frensham Frenzy at Frensham Pond Sailing Club

The forecast was not promising for Frensham Sailing’s first big event of 2011, the annual Frenzy. Traditionally this open event is sailed in a gale. This time the day opened with low cloud, light rain and zero wind.

Sailability Annual Meeting pays tribute to Brian Grimswood

Brian Grimswood has been chairman of Frensham Pond Sailability since its foundation in 2001. Although Brian intends to remain active in Sailability he saddened the meeting by saying he was standing down as the group’s leader.
