2012 Lightning368 fixtures

With demand for the Lightning368 at a new high at the moment, it's now time to release our event calender for the coming season.
2012 sees the class visiting several new venues, as well as introducing a few 'Weekenders' in an effort to give better value for your fuel useage as prices start to rise again!
More details can be found on the class website at www.lightning368.org but the outline calender for 2012 looks like this:
- 24th March - Training Day. Haversham SC.
- 1st April - Open event. Hillingdon OAC.
- 14th April - Open event. Fishers Green SC.
- 28th April - Open event. Cotswolds SC
- 12th May - Open event. Oxford SC (Farmoor)
- 2nd June - Open event. Broxbourne SC
- 23rd/24th June - Sea Championships. Weston SC
- 14th July - Southern Championships. Cookham Reach SC
- 28th/29th July - Open event. Hunstanton.
- 18th/19th August - NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Northampton SC
- 8th September - Northern Championships. Manor Park SC
- 28th September - Training Day. Up River SC
- 29th September - Open event. Up River SC
- 13th October - Inland Championships. Haversham SC
- 27th October - Open event. Dorchester SC
A comprehensive calender, then offering plenty of chances to grab a Lightning368 and have a go in some of the friendliest racing and with some of the friendliest people that you'll find.
We're also suggesting a 'Social' event at the Lord Birkett - so if anyone fancies a go at some summertime long-distance sailing, let us know.

Lightning 368 Open at Oxford Sailing Club
Yet again another fine day of sailing at Oxford Sailing Club, Farmoor Reservoir. Just as last year, we shared the water with the K1 Class.

Lightning 368s at Oxford Sailing Club this Saturday
With just 10 points currently covering the top four positions in the championship table, the Lightning368 fleet descends upon Oxford Sailing Club this Saturday, May 12th, for another day of close, fun and compact racing.

Lightning 368 Open at Cotswold Sailing Club
Ten Lightnings assembled on a grey day with occasional rain, a stiff, variable wind, sudden gusts and a very high wind-chill factor.

Lightning368s at Cotswold Sailing Club this Saturday
This weekend sees the next round of this year’s Lightning368 Traveller/Open series. In the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds Water Park, the LNs will be at Cotswold SC on Saturday.

Lightning 368 Open Meeting at Fisher Green Sailing Club
8 visitors arrived for the second open of the year at Fisher Green Sailing Club in the beautiful Lee Valley in Essex. It was a return to the club after many years away and they were greeted by a day that was sunny and perfect.

Lightning 368 Open at Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre
Eleven boats including 6 visitors attended the first Lightning event of the season. It was feeling decidedly cool at first, but things soon warmed up in the brilliant spring sunshine.

Lightning368 - The season starts here!
So, after a hugely succesful 2011, more new boat orders, a fabulous weekend at the Dinghy Show and a fantastic training day at Haversham last weekend, 2012 kicks off at last for the Lightning368s this week as we decamp to Hillingdon.

Lightning 368 class looking forward to the season ahead
Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the Dinghy Show again this year. Our stand was busier than ever with a great deal of new interest in the boat, together with people looking at and considering the new SR Rig and other new features of the current boat.

Lightning Rum and Mince Pie Open at West Oxford Sailing Club
An impressive turnout of 20 boats arrived at West Oxford SC on the 12th November for the traditional end of the year - but first of the season - Rum and Mince Pie Open.
