During the inauguration of the Vendée stand on Tuesday morning at the Paris Boat Show, Bruno Retailleau, President of the Vendée Council and Louis Guédon, MP and Mayor of Les Sables d'Olonne, accompanied by the British sailor, Samantha Davies, revealed the official poster for the 2012-2013 Vendée Globe, which is due to start on Saturday 10th November 2012.

A new poster and new horizons

In the presence of the British sailor Samantha Davies, who officially confirmed her participation last weekend and in so doing became the fifteenth skipper to sign up for the next Vendée Globe, the President of the Vendée Council thanked all the people, who had turned up along with the skippers to discover the new identity for the forthcoming edition of the non-stop solo race. Bruno Retailleau: "I am proud and pleased to be able to reveal the official poster for the next Vendée Globe. This new picture underlines the basic concept and the direction in which we wish to take the event: opening up internationally, while offering an extreme sport and a human adventure. I would like to thank Samantha Davies and Alessandro Di Benedetto for attending and look forward to seeing you on 10-11-12, in other words on the 10th November 2012".

The new poster for the Vendée Globe places the event logo at the heart of the picture. Rather like on a panoramic screen, the giant letters spell out the name and already take us towards the 2012-2013 adventure. The poster was designed by Nicolas Gilles from Rennes in Brittany, who wished above all "to place the name and the brand of the Vendée Globe at the heart of the picture to build on its reputation in France and around the world. A large part of the poster is white to underline the environmental aspects of the event and to stress the importance of the partners. Finally, the curved horizon reminds us of the global dimension of the epic race both in terms of its geography and media coverage.”

10-11-12

One of the original features of the new poster is to display the date of the start of the next Vendée Globe, Saturday, 10th November 2012, or 10-11-12, which can be seen in the centre of the poster, to invite everyone to save the date of this major event.
