By Philip Whitehead on 12 Dec 201027 December 2010
The Northern annual, essential (and still free) winter sailing event at Yorkshire Dales SC, the Brass Monkey, is on Monday the 27th of December.
As usual, the entry for this open event costs NOTHING, but in addition to the usual Christmas warm welcome, competitors as last can this year benefit from hot showers and underfloor heating! With the recent thaw and rain the reservoir is full to the brim and the new clubhouse, which is right on the waters edge, makes a fantastic viewing point, so spectators will be able to see the thrills and spills over the entire race area.
Judging by the number of entries we had last year, pre-entering is a must to get free entry, which closes on the 23rd December, are limited to the first 50 boats. Enter here: Brass Monkey - 27 December 2010.
Entries on the day will be at our normal rates. To assist with catering on the day, please specify on the entry form how many 'Meal Deals' you require. The Meal Deals which will a choice of hot dishes, chicken curry, pasta bolognese, spicy bean casserole, desert, unlimited tea or coffee and hot mince pies or apple pie after racing, are great value at only £5 for adults and £3 for juniors (how do we do it!).
There will be two handicap races, with the first start at 11.30am followed by lunch and then the second at approximately 1.30pm. A decision whether to split into fast and slow fleet starts will be made on the day.
