Mengeham Rythe Sailing Club, Hayling Island held its 60th Anniversary Open Regatta on Sunday 15th August with 73 entries which included 35 boats from Hayling Island Sailing Club.

The main fleet had a special course in Chichester Harbour with a blustery north, north easterly giving a beat with the tide but made tricky with some big shifts from the opposite direction to the best tidal route.

The wind increased throughout the race resulting in several casualties with only 48 of the 68 entrants finishing.

There was a separate race for juniors in a more sheltered area in the harbour just east of the sailing club in which all the 5 Tera entries finished.
