15 skippers from 11 clubs attended this year RM Nationals at Lincoln MYC on 20th and 21st June. The event was over seen by Jeff Hill (PRO) assisted by Andy Stevenson. Between them they ran a tight ship keeping the racing going at a fair rate with 38 races completed by the end of Sunday.

The wind on the Saturday ran down the lake at 12-15 knots with fresh gust during the afternoon. This gave for some exciting racing and a few gear failures resulting in the rescue boat being busy. Peter Stollery and Trevor Binks finished the 1st day in 1st and 2nd places. Vernon Appleton, Roy Stevens and Roger Stollery fought hard to give the 2 front runners a run for their money.

Day 2 started with little wind and brilliant sunshine and the wind direction coming off the bank. This resulted in a running start to a gate and a long beat to the wind mark and off to a wing mark and down to the gate again, twice around. The racing continued at a slower pace than Saturday but there where still 18 long races sailed to complete 38 over the 2 days Roger S had a good day in light winds to move up from 5th to 3rd by the final race.

There was a good selection of Radio Marblehead designs racing and it was good to see that the oldest design (a Berlioz) costing around £300 managed a few 2nds and 4ths and 5ths. Peter Stollery sailing his Crazy Tube Too finished 1st followed by Trevor Binks sailing a ROK came 2nd, with Roger Stollery the designer of the Crazy Tube came 3rd.

Thanks to must go to the PRO Jeff and Andy and the team of volunteers that gave up their time to make the event a total success.

It was encouraging that there were 8 different designs from 5 different designers Fog, light winds from the east south-east and the forecast of rain put off 3 of the 14 entries, but those who sailed in the 11 races created some exciting, but frustrating racing and stayed dry as there was no rain.
