I need to ProGrip the side deck for the helm on our FD.......there seem to be conflicting views on using the self-adhesive sheets.

What advice do people have? If I use glue is there a special adhesive or is it any contact adhesive eg Evostick?

Thanks

Not definitive advice by any means but what I have experienced myself.

The self adhesive doesn't seem to quite be enough to work in all situations, perhaps on perfectly flat areas of a perfect surface, I don't know.

Yes contact adhesive, people will have favourites, Evo Stick, Theofix(?) get's good reports. Get the solvent based stuff, some is now water based I bought some in error once and it took forever to go to touch dry tack and then wasn't too convincing.

If anything more than a small area two people are better than one. When using the solvent based contact glue it can make the material distort a little which is another reason help is useful to manage the beast.

Chamfer and or tape the edges to prevent it catching and curling off where where is a chance of rubbing.

BTW. What part of the country are you FDing.
