Why is it that y  and y rarely if ever show the underwater hull sections in boat tests  ,surely this is of great interest rather than a description. ???

Coz sails are pretty and make people go oooooo, lovely. Many Y&Y readers would struggle to tell a Wayfarer from a 49er when upside down, I should think.

Many designers would prefer not to have their hull lines published.

And taking lines off a boat is time consuming and expensive.

A photograph of an upside down hull doesn't show much, no scale or depth perception.
