Boats like the Volvo 65's put the crew inside?

Looking at all the water that floods across the deck surly the crew would be safer, drier, warmer and thus more efficient if they were under cover?

Just a thought?

Wheres the fun in that? It isnt exactly 'Life at the Extreme' to send 8 blokes into the southern ocean to sit in the dry with the heaters on!

I do agree but it is a race, and if its faster to make the boats slipperyer so that they water flows over them better and the crew stay safe, warm dry, fighting fit etc......

New Open 60s have sliding canopies to protect the cockpit.

In a Volvo, there's a lot of protection from the stack.

Choice between actively driving around the waves - for which you need a good view, and letting the pilot do most of the work.

Check out the platform for the VO65 helm. Means (s)he can see over the stack.

This is Camper from the last race.
