F18s being beaten over the water? Not happened to me yet!! (Famous last words!!) I have been beaten by a couple of the top spitfires after handicap on occasion though. Good luck though and hope to see you on the racecourse, but you will be very hard pressed to prove me wrong. Sorry - a little off topic |

A former world champ, now sailing F18s, has been beaten by F16s
(Taipans with kites) down here in Oz, and reckons the F16 is ultimately
probably faster because of the lack of crew weight restrictions.
The Mosquito (a class that has been grandfathered into F16 despite being too light because it is older, shorter and has a smaller rig) has regularly been seen to be as fast or faster downwind than the F18s and As (I'm talking the world champ in each class there) and the Mossie is slower than a full-bore F16. |
