I've lost my laser 2 Rudder and tiller! which is a real pain.
Short of buying a new one at £350+, does anyone know of other boat tillers which will do the job, or even better if anyone has one kicking around they may wish to part with?
Thanks

I have two tillers that fit both my laser and my laser 2, I swap them over depending on which boat I am sailing and what the weather is like. I presume any laser tiller would fit, but I would recommend making sure yours is the same.

As far as I can recall, a Laser 1 (Torch) tiller will fit in the the rudder stock of a Laser 2 although I think the Laser 2 tiller is slightly longer. If you are asking for a complete rudder/tiller unit then the Laser 1 will be totally unsuitable!
A Laser 3000 rudder/tiller combo may be a close match (or even the same).
If no one on here can offer you one (and it made sense to ask), my best advise would be to keep an eye on ebay as Laser 2 rudders comes up every few weeks or so. Edited by Andymac - 25 Apr 13 at 8:47pm |

A Laser 3000 blade is certainly identical to the L2 blade (as is the daggerboard), but the stock and permanently-attached tiller is different, and so far as I recall, the pintle-gudgeon arrangement is different too.

You could get an old L2 for £500 and use it as a donor boat. I know it's more than you want to spend but you may find it very useful in the long run....... for instance and for starters the old 2 piece L2 mast is no longer available, dies for the top section have been lost. |
