Sounds juicy. Who got the sack, and why? Not just to make way for a celebrity bosun, surely?
I was going to say how good it was that a former Olympian was doing the job, now im not so sure.

So the Olympics, pinnacle of disabled sailing, is sailed in weedy boats?
A couple of divers could have wiped all the boats every day, then they'd all have been equal.

On what grounds was that marginal? Facts found seem pretty clear.

Looks like Ian Turnbull was listed as Paralympic bosun until rather recently although I know nothing about the circumstances of the "handover"

Well now been able to read the decision and look at the discretionary penalties.   And the failure to give them....thruout Olymp and Parlymp despite support team breaches.

4 points is definitely harsh in my view.

I also note that the EIC tried to use SI 27 to start with as well as SI 3.  So having given oral permission (which the Jury subsequently agreed was OK) the EIC tried to raise a report/protest on the grounds that they had not given written permission (as well as the SI3 Breach).

Which is odd and suggests there is more to this than meets the eye.

Disagree. The facts found were that the bosun was warned and carried on. This was idiocy on a particularly grand scale. However, I have no knowledge of any failure to provide penalties during this regatta. Not sure if you can extend to the Olympics as a different regatta at a different time with a different jury etc

The same document and policy on discretionary penalties was used for both events - and both Juries were appointed by ISAF.

Not sure if posted on the Paralympic website but was definately posted on the Olympics website.

25% of the Paralympic Games protests submitted were made by GBR. Seven in all for a team of three boats. Quite frankly a bit of an embarrassment really.

During the Games, in the Finn class an AUS boat was penalised seven points for not carrying a tow rope!

It looks like the only way GB could have got a medal is with a zero point penalty. That looks a little ambitious in the circumstances.

Well that is the penalty given to the Swedish laser sailor enabling him to keep bronze.
