As far as I can work out, the base for the sailing is Marina da Gloria. Anyone have any idea what the prevailing conditions are around there?

Assuming that it's gonna be in Aug (?) doesn't look too bad...

In the paper today- apparently the organisers have been "inspired" by the Nothe course, and are planning something similar near the Marina with a grandstand holding 10,000 people.

Oh the flippin muppets (well something like that anyway)

Why not go the whole hog and put the medal race in an indoor pool with fans like they do at boat shows?

it would be fairer... what about massive building,  configured basically as a wind tunnel with stadium seating to the rafters down either side of a massive (600-800m across, maybe 1500m long) pool?

Why not hold the medal races on the Brazilian equivalent of Eaton Dorney and be done with it.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

What about jousting. The alto might be the perfect boat for that!

Didn't the 49ers toy with the idea of swimming lanes?

I would love to see a 49er stick to a swimming lane with the kite up when a gusts hits!
