Does anyone have any information on the Decision 35s, designed by Sebastian Schmidt and how they compare to the VO40s, I reckon they'd be pretty equally matched. In fact I'd be willing to put money on the D35s beating VO40s

Here's a pic Dennis..... From previous discusions on other forums, the concensis is that the V40 is quicker..... Would need a match up though to be sure.

I'd have to agree with Stephen. Overall the VO40's would be
quicker; but I'd think (and it's only an opinion that I cannot back yup
with facts) that the D35's would be quicker in the light stuff.
I'd like a sail on both to decide mind.... |

Its kinda like comparing a track car to a rally car mind - I wouldn't
think the D35 would cope on anything but the lakes they were designed
for, round the cans even slightly offshore would be pretty scary...
Great to see so much coverage of the VX40's! |

The Daily Sail has an article and video clip. They only reached 20kts sadly which is something you could do on your 5.9 with the kite up and a decent breeze. The main feature of the article seems to be about the gymnastics of getting and staying on the wire. As the VX40 is a non trap boat, its sides are rounded and smooth and evrey time the windward hull touched down the slowing effect was to throw all trapesers forward. Solution was a "reaching line" to stop one of the four flying forward and everyone else held onto him! |
