Heya all, most of my sailing experience has been in a laser pico, but the time has come for something a bit more... well, spacious.

I sail on a lake in germany (area approx 30 km^2), and am looking for something that can be sailed singlehanded, but also has space for one small passenger. My budget is 1000-1500.

As for other preferences, I like going fast. That's about it really, thanks in advance for the help.

Is that a small and young passenger or what?

There are some interesting lake classes in Germany we just don't get over here and which could well fill the bill... The Taifun Canoe, for instance, which doesn't have a sliding seat but sort of baby winglets, looks as if it might have room to stick a youngster up front to enjoy the ride.

Yes, a small young passenger (well, and on very calm days the hound likes to come along).

Due to time constraints, I won't be entering any clubs/events, so a less used boat would be fine. Indeed, the only boat I have seen in large numbers is the Laser.

In other news, was out a couple of hours ago and came home with an eel in my boat.  Somewhat distracting, but at least I'm sorted for dinner.
