Wind was F5 to 6 about 20 degrees of dead onshore. From what I can gather from people locally it was carnage, many boats/masts broken. Having been there, the Texel beach also has a strong undertow on it so depending which side of the 20 degrees the wind was you end up with a strong tide taking you away from the wind and big (2m+) waves pushing you back onto the beach. About 600 entered, 200+ started and about 120 finished. |

the thing is this race is lacking all the top tornado sailors as they are in La Rochelle for the worlds so might have had an even faster time if they had of been in attendance! saying that i did hear hobie had charterd a plane to fly mitch booth(i think) from texel to the worlds and pay for ground crew to sort the boats out in each location its a good life for some and people say hobie dont buy results!! Booth was to race the custom Hobie Fox...... Stretched to 10 foot wide and all Carbon. Much like Macca's Super Taipan. The boat did not make the start line... See picture of the Black boat up top which is the boat and you will see why
