Any one know what is happenning with those who volunteered to be an Olympic Games helper? I volunteered hoping to be given a job in Weymouth for the Games as part of the race management team or whatever, so far I have heard virtually nothing. Time is getting on, and now we can apply for tickets for the games. How do you apply for tickets when you might have a job as a helper? Is anyone organising RO teams etc in Weymouth for the Games?

I have also applied to help out at Weymouth for the games. I recieved an email a while back saying they will be reviewing applications and we will contacted for possible training at any time between february 2011 and april 2012 or something, so dont worry if you havent heard anything yet there is still a while to go!

I have heard one of my friends has passed the selection to be a marshall/safety boat driver for the Olympics just the other day.

I applied to the technology team and was invited to an interview at Excel last weekend.
The timeline presented indicated that the selection process continues to April 2012. It would appear that they are processing people by roles, at the interview there were people interested in a variety of sports but all for technology. I understand there are sessions planned for Weymouth in the coming months, I guess this is where those who applied for the more specific sailing roles will get interviewed.
So not surprised that not everyone has had a response yet, the number of people they are dealing with is massive

Got an interview at Excel, London next Saturday (26th Feb(. I was able to choose any one of about a dozen 1.5-hour slots, at overlapping half-hour intervals; every single one of these still appears vacant, so does that mean everyone else has declined ?

Still waiting to hear back from them. I take it you got an email rather than having to log in to the site?

Thanks to everyone who responded.
Have now heard that I have got an interviwe at X-Cel Centre in a few days, so feel much better. Maybe we will not run out of time after all.
Cheers,
Conrad.

Yep Radixon, email invitation & links to choose a time at Excel.
Also noted that "my application" has been taken off-site and is no longer editable, other than by telephone.

Had given up hope of being invited for interview & visits to the volunteer site were becoming less & less. However, having read this thread today, thought I might as well have another look & to my surprise, found an invite to select an interview time at Warwick Uni.
I have not received any emails & regularly check my junk & Norton folders, so don't assume that you will get an email.
Good luck if you are still waiting

If it's anything like athletics then all the key personnel already know they have been selected eg track and field officials. those still awaiting interview are for minor roles.
Are you the Ralph T who will be PRO at the NSSA regatta at Grafham? |
