Hello,
I recently acquired a pair of Dart 12 catamarans, these were sold to me as 15's but when I went to collect they turned out to be the smaller variant.
Both boats have been hardly used, one has a brand new unused set of sails, the other set are very good. Hulls again are good as are the rudders and masts.
I have stripped both boats and completed cleaning and polishing one, the other I will complete in the next couple of weeks.
I'm considering keeping one and selling on the other, but have no idea what they are really worth.
The construction of these boats seem superb and I expect they would have been quite expensive when new. The boats are full equiped with main, jib, trapeze and launching wheels and the same sheet control systems and rudders as the 15.
If you could help with an opinion on the valuation please get in touch, I can email a couple of pics of the completed boat if that helps.
Best Regards
Andrew

You could give this guy a ring as he is looking to buy one.

On the Dart 12s it is very difficult to say what they are worth. They were only made for a year or two about 1995/6 but they made very few. They are not an active class but there is some rareity value. A nice one came up on EBay about 18 months ago and it went for about £1200. Steve Sawford (of Speedy Sports) was one of the major bidders but he lost out to one of the other Sprint 15 fleet owners who bought it for a grandchild. Steve does have one but I think he is considering refurbishing them and selling them for children. They are really a bit too short to be an effective catamaran and all the bits are big and heavy. e.g. they used the same rudders as the Sprint 15, Dart 18 and Dart 20 (formerly the Stampede).
Cheers
Bob
P.S. From the Sprint 15 website I see that Simon Giles is thinking about one for his daughter on the chat page. Edited by Sprint Bob - 31 Oct 10 at 6:47pm |
