Wednesday eve I payed up to windguru for a year for the Pro version.
So far so good and at only about £16 it seems worth it. Anyway, If anyones interested I thought I'd give you my thoughts so far. Obviously not having a 12hr delay makes for a more relevant forecast which has only shown some subtle differences so far but then I've only had it for a few days. One thing I AM happy and impressed with is the custom spot option. It gives you a map, you find exactly where you want, give it a click and it loads up the Lat. & Lon. and then you save it to your custom spot list with whatever name you choose. So far I've made spots for Wilsonian S.C. and Broadstairs S.C. as I potentially pop down there every now and then and neither are currently under the standard list. I'm yet to try out any other stuff but so far am well happy. I was a bit worried about giving my debit card details over to czech republic but after a chat with Y&Y forums Captain Morgan, he's had no problems to date so I went for it. Doug H |

used for the last 18 months, mainly look at the WRF9km., Ditto like the location favourites.
Doug - why not get him to add those spots - I'm sure there's a few others that sail there... Edited by laser4000 |

It's pretty damn good- I've been a subscriber for a couple of years now. The 9kms don't always match reality, but generally they're well worth the money.

Works a treat for me. As we discussed, Doug H, the model goes haywire (on the South Coast) with small, fast moving Westerly weather systems. [For Doug H:] Prime example of why the 12hr. delay isn't up to much - Look at the forecast for Sunday now - it's already quite different from 4 hours ago. I'll still try to make it, though! My experience of Windguru Pro is limited though to the South Coast. Please, if someone can inform us all as to how it performs at inland clubs, say Queen Mary, Burghfield et. al. that would be fantastic! |

Thanks Captain, and quite right I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on
it from various parts of the country. I do a bit of traveling to various competitions and it would be handy to know if in some areas it proves as useful or whether it all topples over into uselessness. Mr Emmett, whilst I have much respect for you as a sailor...... your comment gives me little insight to your thoughts as to whether you found it a worthwhile investment, anything that's impressed you or any niggles you've had with it....???? L4000, I may well send an email asking broadstairs to get added, it's a good venue and I'm sure it would be a most welcomed windguru spot. Doug H Edited by Doug.H |

Sorry Doug... I am very busy at the moment as I am still coaching everyday and Xmas is just around the corner (16 people coming for the big day Eeek!)
I have been very impressed with Windguru pro which is why I continue to use it although I also always look at the isometric charts so as to get the "big picture". All the websites I frequently use are found here: http://www.jonemmettsailing.co.uk/links.htm |

You'll find all the cvrda venues as custom spots created by the cvrdaevents user Yes I'll do the new ones for next year soon! |
