I'm borrowing a Fireball (old one) for a Frostbite series next January / February, I need to insure it just for a couple of months, any advice on best deal I'm likely to get?

Just ring up your current insurers and ask them, you may find they can run a policy along side your exsisting policy.

Yeah I thought about that, as our other boat is off the water at this time and is worth considerably more than the Fireball. Will give them a call.

The issue seems to be that it is not what the boat is worth but : 1) How expensive is it to fix 2) How likely is it to break 3) How much damage can it do to another boat So you may find that an old boat is still quite expensive to insure.... |

If your confident it won't break (i.e. isn't delicate) or that any repairs are relatively cheap (if a carbon mast is one to think about!), you can always insure it third party for about £35 with Nobel. |

When I took another boat to Canada last year Nobles transferred the insurance from my own boat to the one I would be using for the regatta, given that mine would be off the water and not in use while I was away. The insurance was then automatically transferred back when I got home. Full racing cover, no worries at all.
