When you say the best place, do you mean the best companies?

noble marine, newton crum, are two of the companies out there.

Newton Crum are rubbish, they have just started to refuse insurance at my sailing club!!!  We sail on a river so most boats are things like Solos ents, gp's etc.  So not high risk crafts, its bloody secure! Although it is based in Tewkesbury GLoucestershire (place worse hit by last years summer floods)  I think only one dinghy got lost!!!  If you are going to insure a boat there is only ONE company and thats Noble marine.  THey have paid out on 2 claims in 2 weeks for me and got me sailing again in 2 days!!!!   I will not be using anyone else for my pride and joy.

Newton Crum are not so bad.  They do like  very full details of the incident, that seems like prudence to me.  Last year  after a race collision they waived half the excess I was due to pay when I pointed out that I had a very long claim-free history. Their claims staff are efficient and business-like.  I think I was quoted less by Newton Crum to insure my Mirror dinghy. So pretty good in my experience.
