I didn't find the prices of the kit to be any better at the Earls Court show than I would find online, however the range on view was good (better than a single chandlers would be) and I could actually physically touch the equipment and in the case of clothing etc. try stuff on which is the main drawback of buying clothing online.

The range and discounts at the Earls Court show were rubbish. Depends how deperate you are, really- Dinghy Show is generally pretty good for dinghy bits and clothing.

Price on stuff at the boat show - definitely more expensive.... you need to factor in: 1- Transport to the boatshow 2 - Entry to show, unless you've cadged a free ticket off your mate. 3- Cost of 10 pints on Guiness in the "Guiness Tent" 4- cost of additional items you had no idea you were going to buy, but you spotted and thought would be "useful".... 5- another round of Guiness in the Guiness Tent (for celeberating the fact you've just nailed your credit-card and made a chandler very happy!). 6- ... more drink after the boat show 7- Cost of accommodation, because you've been partying too hard and missed your train home!
Mind you, it's a fun way to shop.... (drink 5 pints and talking shop) when surrounded by chandlers galore and massive boats and yachts, and go boat/boat-bit shopping... A word of warning, make sure you don''t lay down a deposit for one of the larger yachts or your missus won't be too pleased! f |
