I have only recently taken up sailing and after passing my RYA2, I have
bught a Laser. While it is fantastic fun when reaching up and down on a good day, I am finding it quite demanding particularly in gusty inland winds when I am hiking in and out like a yoyo – and, for that matter, very light winds when I struggle to make it go at all !. I also find the controls (or lack of them on a basic Laser) frustrating. Now I don’t want to start a huge, emotive debate about the merits of the Laser but would appreciate thoughts on how the Streaker compares because I am considering it as an alternative. The Streaker appears to be an easier sail (particularly for ageing newbie’s like me) and yet still has a reasonable performance. Thoughts anyone ? |

Never sailed a Streaker so can't compare but basic control lines on a laser can be very cheaply upgraded with a few strategically placed blocks to make life much easier without shelling out for the expensive new style controls. Might make it a bit easier to sail for you till you decide whether to stick with it or change.
