We are coming over from New Zealand and want to know of other people's experiences of buying a yacht in Croatia, Turkey or Greece, and any advice and things to watch out for. I tried to post another message, but I don't seem to be able to see it, and someone has replied to me but I cannot find that either. We would be looking at a 35 to 38 foot yacht.

Thank you for that, we are not planning to come over til June 2005, so cannot act on it just yet. If no VAT is paid, how does that affect us, could we sail to Croatia, Turkey, a non EU country without paying VAT, or must it be paid immediately, and how much is the VAT. Then would we have to pay more tax when getting to those countries.

By the Greek law if the boat is purchased with a professional license, you don’t pay VAT. Otherwise you pay 18% on the price of “bill of sail”. That means it depends on the total amount of our agreement . You pay no VAT in any place
you sail . > Michael Meneklis P.S> I will send you as soon as possible more pictures of the boat . |
