L'hydroptere looks much more like a proper sea going boat, rather than the super specialist kit normally used to attempt the speed record. There are pics of her going uber fast in a whole variety of conditions - the video obviously showing her in some full on seas. Makes you wonder how long before this type of technology is being used on (for example) offshore cats to attempt long distance records. Mental....

This craft was designed with longer transatlantic ventures in mind, although has reached speeds of up to 40 kts (46 mph or 74 km/h). one in the eye for windjet, innovation, sailrocket etc - a relatively normal yacht sailing on proper sea, is faster than any of them, and almost as fast as a windsurfer!
