Or you could put your Skiing Thermals / Polar tec 200 fleece trousers, P300 fleece jacket on under your dry suite and GO SAILING in your boat you sailed all summer If it's not frozen up, the lake or sea is not frozen up then why not. I remember one Grafham Grand Prix about 15 years ago where the tramp was freezing up, so was the spray on the sails and the sheets were too. Tacking was swift as you had to grab something to stop you sliding right out the other side when you came off the wire

Our dinghy park closes begin Dec untill end March and the slip gets buried in 2 foot deep debris from winter storms , But !!! and I'm a six foot two 18 stone chiken livered woose in aw of fellow heroic dudes !!!!! Loosing the thread !

The great Paul Elvstrom reckons that saling in Nordic winters was the best
way to crack sailing in waves - when it's icy cold you really want to get it right if the water is freezing! |

the best thing to beat the winter blues is to have a catamaran and go to the aruba regatta on at the moment www.arubaregatta.com have a look and tell me your not jelious!

get together with some of your squad/ mates at club and train! Buy a decent drysuit and just keep moving. With all the extra practice you'll beat the fair weather sailors who sit in the clubhouse with a pint and a remote controll come the new season.
