hmmmmmmmmm
29er, very bright future, growing class, ISAF youth boat 2006(7?), easy to achieve high speed and lots of great competition, good stepping stone to 49er, 29erX released soon. laser 3000, class looking up since the release of the v3000, other than that i don't know mch about the class but someone will fill you in. Buzz, not my faveroute and i would have thought underpowered since i have sailed the iso and that seemed good, but the buzz is smaller, the buzz guys will fill you in on that too. i would personally go for the 29er (little bit of bias) not just because the boat is good but because of the future ahead of the class. The buzz, not very well layed out deck controls, high mainsheet loads, too heavy to make any substantial apparent wind advantages downwind. Edited by Doug.H |

never sailed a 29er and not the new v3000 but the older 3000 the 3000 is a horiable boat to sail cause you have a very low freeboard. and i also found it very underpowered. i have raced the buzz alot and found it a very nice boat to sail. brillant with a lightweght crew and a heavyweight one the sheetloads can be high just got to have the correct technique. the buzz is very fast downwind if sailed right and in the light it is also fast. i can beat 400s on the water in it. we have been clocked at very high speeds and have got it airborn more than once. have also sailed it in 30+knots and it is nice and easy. so buzz all the way |

hear hear, it is a great learning boat that can also be quite challenging at times
i went from a topper to a buzz and my dad went from a disabled club challenger to a buzz and we found it hard at first but we are getting better (i think ) |

As it happens, there was a Buzz v. 3000 v. 29er comparitive boat test in DSM that we (3000 class) took part in. The verdict was Verdicts Joe summed it up nicely ... for the full report see www.3000class.org.uk and select Contents Menu/Boat Reviews The V3000 would definitely change the balance ... easy and fast and clutter free, with the aft bridle/boom sheeting/gnav giving plenty of room for the crew (can be retrofit to the L3K for £140). On the helm, the feel of the V3000 is just like sailing a standard Laser with off-the-boom sheeting. For a trial in a L3k or V3k, e-mail info@3000class.org.uk The 3000 circuit is 'fun' racing with low (but increasing) numbers, very accessible, and we have an excellent class coach (Rob Burridge, ISO Nat Champ from when that class was humming, and the current L2000 Nat Champ). We share half our events with L2000s and use club regattas for the rest. The Buzz circuit is more competitive, teamed up with the ISOs, and we well know the 29er scene. |

Back on topic 29er - Good circuit boat for high level competition, also the XX rig has taken it one step further, real nice small skiff. Laser/V3000 - Good racing boat for club and handicap level, good scope for growth within the class. Real good boat for learning the basics of High Performace sailing. Buzz - Enjoyable boat to sail, shame it has been fitted out questionably. In my opinion, the best boat that Topper made since the Topper. More room than the 3000 and equally enjoyable to sail in big winds. Tempted to say better than the original 3000 but over-shadowed now by the V3000 now. |
