Its on the front page and also here: http://www.waszp.com/the-boat
What made me take a look was the concept that it would allow 40-100kg to foil using three rig sizes. However looking at the rig sizes (5.5/6.6/7.7), I'm not convinced that unless its really windy a 100kg sailor would foil using a 7.7m2 sail on an unstayed mast? Thats only a little more than a standard laser sail and around 75-80% the area of my Phantom sail. Otherwise it looks a neat package and all for less the £6K, not to shabby at all. |

I had a quick butchers at the site yesterday, couldn't see a price ecxept for the fee for booking a building slot. Mind you, I didn't look too hard.

It looks extremely impressive. While I don't find foiling as addictive as the hypemasters claim, I'd be in the hunt for one in a few years time apart from the fact that it would be rubbish to sail on my local waterway (120km inland and with significant high ground immediately upwind).

Looks like a nice piece of kit but landed prices, based on 11,600 USD would be £10.5K plus subject to container sharing etc. Certainly not the £6K or even the £9K. Having said that it would be a great boat even at the price IMO

When the bladerider was in full swing and they were looking to bring out the FX I went to Weymouth to have a look and probably would have bought one if they could make it a financial success. Second time round assuming the thing performs broadly like a international moth albeit with probably a lower top speed and higher wind speed for take off do people think that this could be a viable class. Or is it too much of a niche product to get any one design racing in the UK.
The non one design and typical 3-4 grand running costs of a international moth campaign don't really do it for me.

Camber induced windsurf sail, which is what this appears to have, is far more efficient than a Phantom sail. Also if the weight is anywhere near the current foiling moth - circa 35kg all up iirc - then it will easily get 100kg on the foils with a 7.7m2 rig. I'm guessing the wishbone boom arrangement will add stabilty to the rig as well Doubt it would foil sub 10knts but, given enough wind, it will happen |
