What is so wonderful about the Squib that induces so many people to race them actively? Outwardly they seem old-fashioned and heavy, with those odd swinging spreaders, that strange high kite, and an inconvenient mainsheet system. According to a sailmaker who has sailed most classes, they are the most uncomfortable boats.

So why do they remain so popular? My feeling, for what it's worth, is that they are simply the only keelboat class out there that can be raced competitively by a lightweight, two-person crew.

I like the idea of the squib. They represent stonking value, you can sail them in virtually any conditions, they are very far from extreme and they seem to have good class racing.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else
