Hi all
I'm a 16' years old Italian's boy and i love sailing, I do that for 5 years all the time (winter included) and I have a Laser. I would like to sail somewhere in Britain next summer for 2-3 weeks with English speaking people, so I can practice my English and sailing at the same time. Ideally i would also like to stay with an English family, obviusly as paying guest, or stay in a sailing club with accomodation and full board, if possibly with guys of my age.
can anyone help me?

Flavio

Welcome to the forum and I hope you find it useful.

In order to answer your question a little more, do you want to do Sea sailing or Inland lake sailing? What type of boats do you want to sail?

I prefer dinghy, but i like cruiser too.
I haven't particular preference between lake or sea sailing. I want just improve my English and my passion for sailing. My mother wont to send me to college because that are full of Italian in the summer and i prefer place where you can only speak English. I started to sail on the 555, a 4-person boat built in Italy, and with it I have participated at 4 Italian championships. Now I'm training with the navy team of laser but i have done cruiser sailing. Thanks for listening! Hug
p.s. You need other information?

I'd suggest booking onto RYA course to get experience of sailing as well as speaking the language.

Someone here may be able to offer better advice, course details will be out in January for most centers.

Thank you. can you give me more information, sites etc where to look?. Even last year we tried we could not find anything.
Probably because we didn't know how and where to look. Everything we found was only from Monday to Friday without week-end.I would like do an experience in a family, possibly with the same passion for sailing. I have discovered the courses start in July not June as in Italy, (here the school ends June 10).
If you can not write here, you can also send them to me privately lseracchiani@libero.it
thanks again

You could try and get a job / volunteer work at a Sailing Centre perhaps.  Our local one is at Grafham (Cambridgeshire, about 50 miles N of London) and I know the staff live there as well (mostly guys your age I would think) and a nice big lake to sail on during your time off. http://www.grafham-water-centre.co.uk/jobs  I am sure there are others around the country like this.  Another is HOAC which is just outside London  www.hoac.net   or google "watersports centre sailing".  If you are a good enough sailor, getting your Dinghy Instructor certificate would help you a lot.  Or Google "sea scouts" and see if you can join some scouts for a summer camp and stay with a family that way.  Many Sea Scouts are linked in with our Royal Navy - perhaps you can find contacts that way with your Navy people? Good luck!

Unfortunately HOAC don't offer accomodation.

Southampton watersports activity centre, uksa, plas Menai are all centres who may be able to help or offer courses.

In England our school holidays are in July and August.
