Wondering if you can use dyneema for shrouds on a gaff rigged Mirror. I know it's strong enough but was also wondering which gauge would be best to measure the tension too.

Thanks.

I've always found that whilst Dyneema isn't supposed to stretch, when you come back to the boat next day, or whatever, things always seem looser than they were. This makes setting a particular tension rather hard.

Dyneema does suffer from creep initially.  Vectran doesn't, but then it is much more expensive.

Dyastay from English braids.

it's made up of DM10 (A different dyneema fibre with porperties very similar to vectran) and was designed for this very purpose.

Hard to believe it would be legal under Mirror class rules - or if found legal that it would stay legal for very long...

Mirror rules do specify wire - ive checked. It's actually quite surprising what classes do and don't specify wire. GP14s can use Dynastay but a Lark cant!
