We will be racing for the Walter Smith Trophy, running every year since 1959 - our 60th year of competition for this charming and much prized silver cup!

Present holders of the trophy after last year's event - Stuart Hudson and his son, Robbie, from Keyhaven YC, sailing "Fursty Ferret", F3850.

This event is also a heat for the NFA Vines and M25 travellers trophies

Briefing at 10.30 and four races are planned.

Refreshments, light lunches, afternoon tea and nibbles will be available during the day. Lunch menus will be available, perhaps best to choose and order before we put to sea for the first race?

Chipstead's lake is large enough to test and amuse the most experienced racer, but also sheltered and secure for the less experienced sailor to feel confident. Lunching can be from pontoons, no need even for wet feet, and, of course, all the usual facilities in the clubhouse including excellent viewing of the race track from our terraces.

Families, supporters, pit crews, technical and medical advisers are especially welcome to join us for a great day of dinghy racing.

Find us just off Junction 5 of the M25; leave via the A21, southbound, signed for Hastings, quickly left to join the A25, signed Sevenoaks and quickly left again to join Westernham Road which quickly morphs into Homedean Road, signed Chipstead. Half a mile or so, left again into Chevening Road and soon right, opposite the Bricklayers pub, signed to the club and Cheshire Home. A short winding lane, brings you to the car park to the right, launching area down the slope to your left and clubhouse to your front. We suggest perhaps to unload your Firefly from the trailer to trolley in the car park to avoid the risk of too much crowding on the foreshore.

There are signs off the A25 with the familiar Firefly red diamond.

If you are towing from the south and using the M23, remember the road "improvement" work, narrow lanes and speed restrictions around Gatwick, Junction 9. No problem if trailing a Firefly, but perhaps a squeeze if you happen to be moving a rather wider Merlin Rocket or 5o5 dinghy!
