New mini Series in February at Notts County & Staunton HaroldDocuments:
Staunton Harold Sailing Club (near Melbourne, south of Derby) have had a blaster weekend for some years, and Notts County Sailing Club (12 miles east of Nottingham) were looking to do some racing in the closed season, so after some liaison (to prevent clashes) an idea was born, why not have an East Midlands Mini Series with a weekend of racing at each club. Staunton had set their dates, and Notts County has the national student event at the end of February, so it was on.
Both clubs have a good stretch of water open to the winds, with excellent clubhouses and good race organisation, we hope to see plenty of visitors and make this an annual series. Notts Countís new extension should be well on the way so if you donít want to race, do come to either venue and spectate, and partake of the bar and food.
The First Event is in 10 days at Notts County Sailing Club on 11/12th Feb 2017 and will be known as the County Cooler, all are welcome including windsurfing race boards. Both weekends, consist of five races (conditions allowing) over two days, with a Pursuit race and handicap racing Notts County is 11/12th Feb and the same format will be used at Staunton two weeks later 25/26th Feb. The 25th Feb will finish early as its Notts Countyís Awards evening that night. Paid up club members of either club can sail at both venues for free, non members pay £20 for each weekend (Juniors £10).
Both clubs look forward to seeing plenty of dinghies and windsurfers on the water. Lets hope for some warm weather and good winds.
