Brightlingsea Sailing Club is delighted to welcome the Cat Open Meeting and Spitfire National Championship on the weekend of 1 and 2 October 2016. Racing will take place on the Colne Estuary which provides sheltered sea sailing. We can sail at any state of the tide and the Club has safe and easy launching via its own ramp into Brightlingsea Creek. Registration and the club galley will both open at 09.00 both days. There will be a Competitor Briefing at 10.30 and the first start for up to 3 races on Saturday 1 October will be at 12.00. Registration and the galley will also open at 09.00 on Sunday 22 October when the first start is scheduled for 10.30 with up to three races planned. The Prize Giving will take place as soon as possible after sailing on Sunday. There’s plenty to keep friends and family entertained ashore, too, as the Club is open from early morning to late at night. There’s a sandy beach right outside the Club, and there are walks along the River Colne and Brightlingsea Creek, playgrounds, a seawater paddling pool, and the ever-popular crabbing from Brightlingsea Hard. You can even take a trip on the harbour ferry. All are within a few minutes’ walk of the Club, so you can forget the car. If you would like any further information about taking part in this event please contact Sailing Secretary Pier Lambert on pierslambert@btinternet.com
